Can I expect waterproof flooring to be scratch-resistant?

Can I expect waterproof flooring to be scratch-resistant?

Yes. Waterproof floors will give you ultra-durability and the highest level of moisture protection. While also giving you gorgeous wood and stone designs that work with any decor.

Engineered luxury vinyl

Waterproof flooring is luxury vinyl flooring (LVF), made to be thicker, more durable, and constructed with different cores. Put into perspective, LVF is already five times thicker than the original product and, when engineered, becomes even thicker than that!

Like LVF, this is layered. At the top, just over the design layer, is a thick, transparent, melamine wear layer that protects the floor from scratches, scuffs, and dents.

SPC and WPC

Waterproof floors are constructed with wood plastic composite (WPC) or stone plastic composite (SPC), two technologically advanced cores. They are graded for commercial use.

As you can imagine, a commercial facility has heavy foot traffic and wear. That makes them ideal for busy, heavily foot trafficked areas in the home.

The cores offer the highest level of moisture protection. They won’t peel or ripple, no matter how much water there is or for how long.

Core values

The core provides stability and protects the floor from the liquid. However, the floor needs to be replaced once the core gets soaked.

Other waterproof flooring options

1. Luxury vinyl (LVF). Traditional LVF has a waterproof vinyl core.

The product is affordable, stylish, durable, and low maintenance. This material is cut into planks (LVP) or square groutable tile-sized pieces (LVT)

2. Rigid core vinyl plank. This is a luxury vinyl plank with the SPC core.

3. Waterproof laminate: Relatively new to the market, this has a non-wood construction that makes it spill-proof.
