Facts you must know about hardwood floors

Wood floors add richness and elegance to your home, but they are so much more!

At Anthony Interiors the question isn’t so much as "Can we compete with the big boxes" but, rather, it’s "Can the big boxes compete with us?"

Flooring is all we do, and we know we have to do it well, offering a level of experience and knowledge that can't be found in the national chains. We focus on providing value: strong aesthetics, high function, and reasonable pricing.

We've been in operation since 1949, and we added focus on flooring in 1975.

What is engineered hardwood?

Unlike solid, which is one slab through the plank, engineered undergoes a little manufacturing. This process gives more stability and an increased ability to handle moisture without compromising beauty or any integrity.

A slab of authentic wood is on top. This is sometimes referred to as the "veneer layer" and it’s what gives the floor beauty. Underneath are at least three, but preferably more, layers of real wood with the resins; the layers are then placed in a crosswise position.

It adds the same aesthetics and value to your home as solid. It can also be refinished up to four times, depending upon the thickness of the product.

Other things to know

  • Hardwood is a durable and long-lasting flooring. We've even heard of some cases where it lasted up to 100 years. Wood floors only look better with age and when they do look worn, it usually only takes a sanding and refinishing to bring them back to their original glory.
  • All hardwood is eco-friendly. The flooring is considered to be one of the most sustainable and renewable products. While many are concerned about deforestation, they should know that there are strict rules put into place to plant new trees to replace the ones cut down. Both types are considered environmentally friendly; engineered because of its longevity and ability to resist climate and humidity changes. And, remember, products such as adhesives, can be certified as green by environmental organizations.
  • Hardwood floors are easy to maintain. Just vacuum without beater bars, wipe spills immediately use protective furniture pads on feet to eliminate scratching.
