Luxury vinyl flooring is often the best choice

Are you in the market for new flooring? Want something that is high quality? Then luxury vinyl flooring is the product you are looking for. Not only is it child-proof, pet-proof, and spill-proof, it also is resistant to scratches, water, and stains. It comes in two formats: luxury vinyl plank (LVP) and luxury vinyl tile (LVT). The planks are for wood-look floors, and the tiles are for stone, ceramic, and brickwork-looking floors.

Multiple-layer composition

Luxury vinyl is created as a multiple-layered material. As a result, it has several benefits: The vinyl is composed of several layers pressed together. On the top is a layer that is a protective coating. This covers the next layer, which is a design layer or imaging layer. Sometimes manufacturers put an extra layer on the top layer to preserve the lifespan of the image layer. Most times, the luxury vinyl flooring is 8 millimeters thick. However, you can get thicker material, up to 20 millimeters. This will prolong the life of the flooring.

Waterproof flooring

Luxury vinyl flooring has a unique core layer; for LVP, it’s a plastic wood composite layer. For LVT, it's a plastic stone composite. Both materials mimic what the material looks like and how it feels underfoot. The wood composite has a foaming material added to it, so it feels slightly more comfortable than the tile. Because of the plastic core, both LVP and LVT can be exposed to water for an extended time, and nothing will happen to it. It won’t ripple, curl, or warp. There is no damage to the vinyl at all.

Attractiveness

The images that are on the design layer are three-dimensional. They have a width and a depth to them. The images exactly reproduce the exquisite detail in tile, stone, wood, and brick. The tiny whirls and swirls in wood and the facets of stone are seen in the images. They are sharp and resolute. The flooring is micro-beveled and embossed to give it an aged look.

Installation

The installation of LVP and LVT is simple. It can be installed as a floating floor, with no attachment to the sub-floor. The planks and tiles fit together like jigsaw pieces. Padding can be put down to lessen the noise of the room and provide a cushioning factor. If there is moisture present, a vapor barrier can be put down as well. You also have the option of gluing down the flooring if you want.
